How to configure the application fee

Set the fee amount and choose whether the applicant or the operator pays, within legal limits.

The application fee is set in the rule set attached to a unit. You set the amount and choose whether the applicant or the operator pays it.

Steps

  1. Open the rule set for the unit.
  2. Set the fee amount.
  3. Choose who pays: the applicant or the operator. See Can I pay the application fee instead of the applicant?.
  4. Save. The fee is recorded onto each new screening created under that rule set.

Important limits

In some locations, the amount you may charge an applicant is capped by law. In New York, the application fee an applicant may be charged is capped, and a recent qualifying report may need to be accepted at no additional charge.
