What to expect when you are invited to apply
What the screening involves and what to have ready so you can finish in one sitting.
You have been invited to complete a tenant screening through Burnt. This article explains what the process involves so that you can finish it in one sitting.
What the screening includes
The screening confirms a few things about you for the property: your identity, your income, your employment, your credit, and your background and rental history. You complete each step in order, and most steps take only a few minutes.
What you will need
Before you begin, have the following ready:
- A valid government identification document.
- Access to your income information, for example your bank or payroll login.
- The payment method for the screening fee, if the property has asked you to pay it. See What the screening fee covers.
How long it takes
Most applicants complete the full application in 3 to 5 minutes, you can move through the steps without any waiting.
Starting your application
Open the link from your invitation and follow the steps on screen. If you need to add a co-applicant, a co-signer, or a guarantor, you will be able to do so during the application. See Adding a co-applicant, co-signer, or guarantor.
If you receive reminder messages, it means one or more steps are still incomplete. See Why am I receiving reminder emails or texts.
