How to add a co-signer or guarantor

Add someone who guarantees the lease without living in the home, and how that differs from a co-applicant.

A co-signer or guarantor is someone who agrees to be responsible for the lease but will not live in the home. Properties often ask for one when an applicant is building income or credit history.

Steps

  1. During your application, choose the option to add a co-signer or guarantor.
  2. Enter their name and email.
  3. They receive their own link and complete their own required steps, which typically include identity and credit.

How a co-signer differs from a co-applicant

A co-applicant lives in the home and their income is combined with yours for affordability. In the current version, co-signer and guarantor income is not added to the affordability total. A co-signer provides a financial guarantee rather than sharing the residence.
